At my appointment today, the nurse said that I was only 15 weeks. " and this started a rather long drawn out back and forth about what was more correct, the ultrasound or my guessed LMP. An ER ultrasound dated me at 9wks 6days, and when I have my first Dr's visit/ultrasound, that would have put me at 14wks, but they said 13.I'm thinking this is ridiculous, why should i care? We follow our pregnancies week by week, so it was just a little frustrating.... I've always heard that an u/s can be a week off in either direction.Naegele's rule is named after Franz Karl Naegele (1778–1851), the German obstetrician who devised the rule.
Example: LMP = 280 days past the start of the last menstrual period is found by checking the day of the week of the LMP and adjusting the calculated date to land on the same day of the week. The calculated date (15 February) is a Monday; adjusting to the closest Friday produces 12 February, which is exactly 280 days past 8 May.
The calculation method does not always result in 280 days because not all calendar months are the same length; it does not account for leap years.
When I was "8 weeks" I went to a "free clinic" (very very professional wonderful place) and had a free utlrasound to make sure everything was going smoothly.
My LMP was a guess and thought this could very well be true.
A gene on chromosome 5q35.3 that encodes an adaptor protein thought to have a protein-assembly-scaffoding role, which has a PDZ domain (which binds to actin filaments) and a LIM domain (which functions in protein recognition as required in various contexts—e.g., transcription activation, development and cytoskeletal interaction).
(I was at the time without insurance, so this was a huge help to relieve my anxiety) At this ultrasound the nurse said according to the measurement of the baby, I was actually 9 weeks, not 8!
The result is approximately 280 days (40 weeks) from the start of the last menstrual period.
Another method is by adding 9 months and 7 days to the first day of the last menstrual period.
I asked her to move my dates but she said since the baby won't be 12 weeks and over 2 days so the scan will be irrelevant. I also mentioned that we would like to confirm the new EDD as my ob think that they have dated me quite far back.
The receptionist mark that down and book me on the following Monday for 12 weeks scan.
The place I'm going to won't take you until 12 5 at minimum, and I remember from my last scan they said they prefer people to be around 13 weeks as they get much better detail. also my lmp has me at the 5th and my dating scan at the 13th too (I agree my dating must be correct based on when I got my positive and first hcg levels) and I'm not booked in until the 6th for dating scan.
